Upon leaving SEVERAL emails with my concerns.Active finally admitted guilt in saying that they have nothing to do with the unit.and they just sell it. It gets worse!!!!!! Hands down.Active Autowerkes has the WORST Customer service I have ever dealt with. Upon hooking up the tool to my expensive car.The tool informs me that the ecu cannot be read.This is because the tool is loaded with the INCORRECT "Flash_Protocols" for our M62 DME. It is advertised that the hand held tool can read the M62 / TU DME's of BOTH Pre & Post E38s & E39s. Per the instructions.Once you receive your flasher.you must donwload the software onto a computer with internet capabilities, so that you can update BOTH the software AND hardware ( Simon tool ).Īfter that.You simply hook the unit to your car and read the ecu to have the data sent back to Active Auto. Active auto ships the tool from THEIR place in Florida. Upon purchase, I received the tool in about 3 or 4 days.
I chose to purchase from bimmian, because I have never had any issues in the past with them. If you choose to purchase from Bimmian.Com, They have a bundle package. If you choose to purchase directly from Active Auto.The hand held device is $300, The tune itself is ANOTHER $400! PLUS Shipping & Handling! You purchases the device.Read your ECU.Save the data and Email it to Active Auto and they will rework and tweak it for you.( Remove Your limiters and what not.enhance performance ), They will then email the tune back to you.You upload the tune onto your hand held device.and in turn.load it onto your car ( Flashing your DME ) They way it is setup.You must purchase the device.THEN, purchase a TUNE to load on the device. I choose to purchase the unit from ACTIVE Autowerkes as a cheap means of enhancing my engine performance WITHOUT having to spend LARGE amounts of "DINAN" money.lol Every make.every model appears on this list.INCLUDING the M62 5.2.1 DME & M62TU 7.2 DME Which can be found on the Dimsport website. This is done by way of "Flash_Protocols". The flasher is VIN-LOCKED Hand held device that allows the owner to Flash his DME/ECU with a tune of choice ANY time he so pleases. The So-Called "SIMON" tool is a MASS PRODUCED, hand held "FLASHER" That was created by the Italians, which was appropriately named "MYGEnius" The Name of the Italian company is called DimSport! I chose to make this thread in order to HELP my fellow E38 & E39 Owners for which have intrest in the SIMON, self tuning program.Offered by Active Autowerkes and a few other low level tuning companies.
